Stinging Nettle (yes, it can actually sting you if you brush by it) is a flowering plant that grows perennially. It has been used for its healing properties throughout the ages, and today it can be found in areas throughout the world.
The many healing properties of this plant are indeed amazing. The plant contains many natural chemicals, including serotonin, histamine and acetylcholine. It’s the active nature of these chemicals that can cause a sting on the skin if they make contact through the little needles that lie under the plant’s fine hairs on the plant’s base. Nettles are used today as a treatment for urinary tract problems, joint pains, and allergies. They’re also a nutritious addition to the diet, providing many vitamins and minerals in easy-to-digest form, and promote healthy skin and hair.
