`10am-12:30 pm: Female Reproductive System Overview
We’ll start off the day with an overview of herbal actions for the female reproductive system such as female hormonal regulators, uterine tonics, anti-spasmodic, astringents, alteratives, and galactagogues. We’ll also look at herbal blends for female issues often seen in the earlier years such as dysmenorrhea (period pain), irregular periods, vaginal infections and endometriosis.
1:30-3:30 pm: Herbs & Nutrition for the Childbearing Years
In the afternoon, after a review of female reproductive physiology and the dance of the hormones, we’ll focus on herbal strategies for infertility, PCOS & pregnancy. This includes delving into nourishing uterine tonics, toners and nervines such as Shatavari, Maca, Wild Yam, Licorice and Oats which normalize function and strengthening the whole system as well as nutrients that are essential for the childbearing years.
Wednesday follow-up webinar, January 18th, 7 pm: Herbs & Hydrotherapy for the Mature Woman
In this webinar, we’ll look at herbal strategies for conditions commonly seen in older women such as fibroids and peri-menopausal and menopausal issues including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, weight gain and memory loss. We will also look at dietary and lifestyle solutions and specific phyto-steroidal and female regulating herbs such as Kudzu, Sage, Dong Quai and Black Cohosh.
We will finish up with the age-old techniques of hydrotherapy including therapeutic sitz baths, steams. The historical methods still work wonders for everything from reproductive issues such as fibroids, urinary retention, BPH, prostatitis issues.

This certification course is currently taught online via Zoom and can be joined at any time during the year. It is run in executive format, with one (1) Saturday a month,10 am-12:30 pm, 1:30-3:30 pm (except August) with a follow-up 1 ½ hour webinar and study group after the weekend classes (on the 2nd Wed evening after the Saturday class at 7-8:30 pm). Assignments and study between classes are required for certification. Classes are recorded so they can be made up if missed. The one-year program runs for 11 months and can be joined at any time during the year as classes are taught on a revolving basis. Monthly Saturday and evening classes must be attended or made up and monthly assignments completed for the Foundations of Herbalism Certificate.
The cost for Foundations of Herbalism (FOH) Certificate: $199/month x 11 or $2,189 in total.
